When you can fish
Guides open the fishing island with Haunted Tundra at level 20. You do not need it for Grasslands or Ancient Sands.
What the patches changed
Version 2.0.9 adds an Upgrade Stash button on the fishing stash so it holds more. Version 2.0.5 fixed several breaks: falling out of the world no longer ruins fishing, walking away keeps the fish you were catching, the fishing HUD stays while you are idle, and void fishing tasks can be completed. If a video shows fishing as stuck, check whether it is from before those notes.
What you are fishing for
- Enchantment pages, also dropped in raids. Eight pages make an enchant book. Merging duplicate books or pages is the level 50 blacksmith step.
- Dark keys. They open dark chests in dungeons. A fishing guide reports a 1.5% base key drop and says a Dragon Pole with Glowing Eel bait in a high-luck ripple improves it. That rate is a guide figure.
- Golden Teeth. The same progression guide tells you to save at least 3 and up to 9 for endgame rods.
- Charms. One fishing note says to activate a charm before a dungeon, then pick bonus weapons and armor of that charm's rarity after the clear.
- Stardust, which also feeds ring refining.
Rod names in the progression guide are Iron Pole, Golden Rod, White Raven with a listed 125% luck boost, and Poltergeist. Dragon Pole is the rod named in the dark-key note. Crafting costs for those rods were not in the pages used here.
A Void Master note says the badge is 560 fish and pays Stardust plus an epic rod at the quest board. Treat the fish count as that note's requirement.
How this connects to combat
Enchant books are the reason fishing matters in a dungeon. The Greed enchant is described as plus one loot pull per level and a max-health cut. Exact book recipes beyond the eight-page craft were not listed in the pages read for this guide. Apply a charm before you start the run if you want the bonus gear choice at the end.
